Hartlepool Wadokai is a constituted Not-for-profit organisation, the club is managed by a voluntary executive committee made up of Instructors, Parents and Students. The club has a great team of instructors whom have trained with many leading martial arts exponents from the UK and Japan.

Carl started Karate at 5 years old, and as a senior, competed for well over a decade with the Wadokai England national team. Carl has many Wadokai European medals to his name.
Carl is now an international Kumite & Kata Judge and regularly officiates at the highest levels.

Carl and Amy lived in Japan from 1st July 2008 for 12 months. Whilst there, they trained at the Shiramizu Dojo run by Takamasa Arakawa Sensei, 6th Dan.
Both worked as English Teachers for the Shiramizu Dojo, and also worked at a number of kindergartens & private language schools.

Amy was an international competitor for over a decade with the Wadokai England national team. Highlights include medals at both the Wado World Karate Championships (2010) &
Wadokai All-Nations Championionships (2015) and loads of Wadokai European medals!
Amy is now an International Kumite judge and British Kata Judge and regularly officiates at the highest levels.
Amy leads our Little Ninjas program and is one of our squad coaches.

Kate started training in Karate at Hartlepool Wadokai in 2003 and is a 2nd Dan.
She has trained with the Wadokai England National Team and has competed internationally. Highlights include competing in the Wadokai All Nations Championships (2018) and the 45th FEW European Championships (2018) in which she won Gold for Women's Individual Kata.
She enjoys all aspects of Karate, but has a particular interest in Kata training and competition Kata.
Outside of the Dojo, Kate is a secondary school teacher and teaches English in a local North East school.

Neil has a special interest in close quarter Karate, and is one of the leads for this aspect of our syllabus.

The FULL Management Team have undergone enhanced disclosure checks to ensure their suitability for working with children and all are First Aid Qualified. All of the Instructors are fully insured and certified by the English Karate Federation to teach Karate and all are qualified competition Judges or Referee's.
